Teaching

I have been teaching since my undergraduate degree, starting with first-year physics labs: then undergraduate supervision, graduate mentoring, and authoring and editing an open course on quantitative MRI.

Open courses

  • Quantitative MRI mOOC First author of seven, and first editor of five. A free open course on quantitative MRI — introduction, T1, T2, B1 and B0 mapping, and magnetization transfer — with class application examples, slides and Jupyter notebooks. Published through NeuroLibre so every figure is reproducible from its source, and released CC BY 4.0. Source on GitHub.

Supervision and mentoring

  • Elaine Hegarty — undergraduate research project, Western 2010 – 2011, at the Robarts Research Institute, while I was a master’s student myself. Her project measured alveolar oxygen partial pressure using hyperpolarized 129Xe at 74 mT. I worked with her on the proposal, edited her drafts, and ran the experiments with her.
  • Kiril Zelenkovski and Filip Velkov — graduate students, Skopje 2020 – 2023. Remote mentoring on building interactive, reproducible research notebooks, through NeuroLibre.

Workshops and hackathons

  • MRathon — a hackathon for MRI professionals Organizer, 2019 and 2023 – 2025. Brings MRI and MRS researchers, developers and students together to build things over two days.

  • Teaching assistant and marker, first-year physics labs — Université de Moncton Three years during my undergraduate degree, in French. My first teaching.
  • Teaching assistant, Physics — University of Western Ontario 2009 – 2011, alongside my master’s.
  • Teaching Assistant Training Program — Western Completed 2009. Included two microtalks, one of them an introduction to the concept of effective mass.

Teaching materials

  • T1 and T1ρ mapping — interactive book chapter Authored the T1-mapping chapter in Quantitative Magnetic Resonance Imaging (Academic Press, 2020) and built a workflow that makes it runnable: containerized MATLAB and Python notebooks that execute the analysis in the browser and regenerate every figure.
